As the sky put on her brightly coloured dress, Lake’s surface rippled in the growing wind. Little Salping opened his eyes and screamed. “Ahrrrrrrr What has happened to me? I’m all bent and twisted again”

Wind spoke softly as he caressed Little Sapling’s leaves, “Little Sapling, Little Sapling, Lake has deceived you. Her surface was so still your reflection made you look as though you were straight and tall, but it was a lie. You are even more bent and twisted than ever before because you bent further to look into Lake’s surface, but my breath has shown you the truth.”

Little Sapling thought his heart would break.

“Don’t despair Little Sapling, I know someone who can help you. I’ll go and ask him to come to your rescue.” And off Wind blew.

The sun came out from behind the clouds and slowly Lake’s surface dried up and disappeared leaving Little Sapling in a muddy puddle. He was tired-out and fed-up. Everything he had tried to do in order to make himself straight and tall had failed, and now he was worse than ever. Would he ever get it right? He was even too tired-out and fed-up to have a good cry, so he gave up, and went to sleep.
